My fitness journey- a snapshot
31 years old ➡️ 35 years old ⠀
June 2016 ➡️ July 2020⠀
You don’t need to be postpartum in order to start taking care of yourself. I have deliberately chosen a photo of the time before I became pregnant.
I didn’t start on this fitness journey to lose my pregnancy weight. I had tried losing weight countless times before since 2002, only to put it back within 6–8 months every single time. ⠀
But, it was my pregnancy and a c-section and the long and hard recovery from it that made me aware to my very core what a gift this body, this life is. I resolved that I WILL change my life. ⠀
My before photo is before I became pregnant. ⠀
June 2016-⠀
I was on vacation in Denver. ⠀
I was deeply unhappy.⠀
I wore my husband’s t- shirt since none of my clothes were fitting me anymore.⠀
I binged on a family size pizza every week. ⠀
I ate out all the time. ⠀
Food was my comfort. ⠀
My inner dissatisfaction spilled onto all my relationships.
I felt inadequate and worthless.⠀
Smiling outwardly, I desperately wanted to be thinner. ⠀
I just didn’t know what to do differently from the nearly ten times before I had lost and gained weight. ⠀
I WAS LOST.⠀
⠀
July 2020-⠀
I am at home.⠀
I am wearing the same t-shirt but not out of a compulsion but out of choice. ⠀
I no longer associate my worth with the clothes I am wearing.⠀
The spark from within is what matters.⠀
I don’t care how much I weigh now. ⠀
All I care for is that I exercise every day and make good food choices, most of the times. ⠀
I know now what food works for me and I don’t diet. ⠀
I don’t binge. I haven’t binged like I used to since September 2017. ⠀
Food doesn’t control me anymore. ⠀
I AM HOME. ⠀
My two secrets are- exercise and nutrition. ⠀
Really, it is that simple. Just like that. ⠀
